OUR ARTS AWARD OFFER
As part of our touring work we bring a delightful family show ‘Same Same...But Different’ which has been created working in collaboration with a number of primary schools in Birmingham and London. We used the children’s creative responses and lived experiences of being different and belonging. We use the themes of this innovative production to inform our Arts Award Offer.
Through the Arts Award project we will craft a playful and colourful world to explore our curiosities and fears, the times we feel different and when we belong.
WORKSHOP OPTIONS:
Dance workshop: participants get a taster of three dance styles Kathak, Contemporary & Hip Hop Dance.
Theatre workshop: participants explore storytelling through movement, mime and props from the show (ribbons, bells, fabric, etc.)
Difference, Identity and Belonging workshop: participants explore the themes of individuality, diversity and the bonds which connect us all, through dance and physical theatre.
Visual Arts workshop: participants design their own comfort fabric inspired by South Asian block printing styles as seen in the show, celebrating their individuality and sense of belonging.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY
We can also offer a relaxed performance of the show at your school or organisation within your package, so please feel free to ask us about this.
Award-winning Sonia Sabri Company is one of the UK’s leading dance and music companies renowned for dazzling, lively performances created by Directors Sonia and Sarvar Sabri. This feel-good celebratory dance theatre show is for everyone to enjoy. Age guidance: children aged 5+ and their grown ups.

TIMESCALE
Children move at their own pace with Arts Award but we recommend around 25 hours is spent completing it, depending on the project. This can be completed over numerous sessions on a weekly basis, for example over a term basis, or we could deliver this in a concentrated phase, such as part of, Arts Week within your school.
TESTIMONIALS
‘The children thoroughly enjoyed the drama and different games they played. They enjoyed painting and decorating their object for the Tree of Life. Mel was very enthusiastic and clearly passionate about what she does, which was lovely to see.’
‘We had a fabulous time with Sonia Sabri Company. The pupils really enjoyed the project and were totally engaged. They loved learning about the instruments and found the dance challenging but accessible. Sonia was brilliant with the pupils, her manner of teaching was really relevant and the pupils responded very positively to her.’
