Kathakbox is an energetic and uplifting production from Sonia Sabri Company which expresses the unique and diverse energy of modern Britain through a new dance style: ‘Urban Kathak.’ ‘Urban Kathak’ brings together a unique palette of art forms. It blends the grace and vigour of Kathak with the ‘laid-back’ groove of hip-hop. It layers complex Indian rhythms and tabla- vox with the verbal dexterity of multilingual poetry and ‘beatbox.’ By finding natural meeting points between these styles and playing with contrast, choreographer and dancer Sonia Sabri creates a surprising and individual dance language.
