Music Workshops
A range of workshops are available for schools, colleges, universities, community groups and more. Instruments can also be provided so each participant has the opportunity for 'hands on' experience.
Taster workshops:
For all ages & levels from beginners’ upwards. An interactive workshop introducing key elements and instruments of Indian music and culture.
Themed workshops:
Festival & Cultures:
Exploring Diwali, Navratari, Eid, Black History Month and other festivals and events through music.
Kinaesthetic Learning:
Exploring academic subjects and themes through song, rhythm and melody.
GCSE Music:
These workshops focus on the basic principles of Indian music studied in ‘Area of Study 4: World Music’ and are an excellent way to introduce the topic. These sessions also offer practical experience and help pupils to prepare for their exams. Interacting with a renowned Indian music professional is also a great way for students to gain a personal insight into Indian music in context and as a living tradition.
Year 7 music:
A fun and interactive way to bring the curriculum to life, introducing key concepts of Indian music, demonstration of instruments with ‘hands-on’ experience and creative tasks for participants.
Masterclasses:
Faster-paced sessions for music students, including those at FE/HE level, exploring compositional techniques for various contexts including film, radio, dance and performance techniques.
Working with young people:
We regularly work with school and community groups to create music and/or dance pieces for performance at school and public events.
Lecture Demonstrations and Performances:
For assemblies and special events, offering high quality Indian music with opportunities for interaction and explanation.
